Tucked away in the lovely serendipitous streets of Udaipur, neighbouring the City Palace, is an enchanting address that’s home to a timeless collection of erstwhile textiles and curios. For those of us with an appetite for authentic vintage finds, we offer treasures from as early as the Mughal Dynasty.
Set inside a 17th Century heritage haveli, the architecture of the store, much like the collectibles it houses, will take you on a journey into the heart of Indian antiquity. The haveli has 32 galleries filled Camel Rugs from the era of the Maharajas, to the finest quality Pashminas, miniature paintings, vintage finds, designer bags from the recycled fabrics made by one of the owners Vipul Shah, the emporium is a labyrinth of vintage finds waiting to be discovered. With multiple rooms that twist and turn with modern with traditional crafts, narrow balconies filled with Indian stoneware, and old winding staircases filled with little trinkets, we offers an assemblage of delightful homewear and handicrafts.
Founded in 1980, the Emporium is run by the Shah family for the past three generations. A passionate family of curio aficionados, the family has made it their life’s work to bring the best of Indian Handicraft experiences to the world. Featured in renowned journals world wide to the personal excerpts by noted personalities like Tory Burch, Sarah Burton, Angela Missoni etc. Ganesh Emporium delineates a brand housing a colossal collection of hand embroidered pichwais and bags, hand woven rugs, ethereal wall hangings, and beautifully sculpted wooden artifacts. Every piece is indigenously sourced from within the country, is rare and one of a kind. A requisite for anyone seeking tradition fused with undying art.
